Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans
After four years on the market, more farmers than ever are using on their farms. Monsanto’s second-generation trait technology for soybeans has been planted on more than 50 million acres in its first four years on the market. In 2013, Monsanto expects 39 to 41 million soybean acres to be planted with the Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield trait.
In its fourth year of deployment in 2012, Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® products extended their yield advantage versus competitive first-generation Roundup Ready® soybeans, achieving a more than 4.5-bushels-per-acre national yield advantage. With their highest yield advantage since commercial introduction, Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans demonstrated strong performance in every major growing region, reflecting the broad availability of more than 300 products in multiple soybean seed brands.
Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans held average yield advantages of 4.2 bushels per acre and 3.8 bushels per acre in 2011 and 2010, respectively.
Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans provide farmers the same proven benefits of Roundup Ready® soybeans – combined with the only soybean trait that has the primary benefit of additional yield opportunity. And higher yields can mean higher profits for farmers.
Monsanto developed Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans through extensive gene mapping that identified specific DNA regions in soybeans that have a positive impact on yield. Using advanced insertion and selection technologies, the Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® gene is situated in one of these high-yield DNA regions to help deliver high-yield potential.
Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® trait technology is the base for including Intacta RR2 PRO™ to be launched in South America and Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans, and breeding traits like Phytophthora Root Rot resistance. Intacta RR2 PRO soybeans and Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans are pending regulatory approvals.
