IDB to assist Punjab government in agriculture projects
Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will provide assistance to Punjab government for different proposed projects for value addition in vegetable and fruits.
This was disclosed in a meeting between the Secretary Agriculture Punjab Dr Ijaz Munir and a delegation of the Islamic Development Bank, said a spokesman of the agriculture department here on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by IDB representative nominated in Pakistan Shahid Ahmad, Country Manager Ihsan ul Kibriya, Economic Affairs Division representative Ali Qayyum Raja, Additional Secretary Agriculture Ahmad Ali Zafar, Director General Agriculture (Extension) Dr Anjum Ali Buttar and others.
The delegation informed the Secretary Agriculture Punjab five projects worth Rs 8,378 million are under consideration of the Bank for provision of latest agricultural equipment and machinery to the growers for encouraging mechanised farming in the province.
One of the projects is aimed at capacity building of growers from different districts for enhancing per-acre yield of sugar cane, wheat, vegetables, fruits and cotton.
