Multan : Seminar for Profitable Mango Farming
Multan: The agriculture seminar regarding the “Profitable Mango Farming” is held in Multan yesterday. Several well known agronomists, scientists large number of farmers participated in the seminar.
The participant pointed out that the mango cultivated area is decreased during last three years and the main reason for this decrease is the frost damage to the trees. The decrease due to urbanization is also significant.
The agronomists advised farmers to irrigate and apply the fertilize the mango trees out from the 2 feet radius circle to the trunk of the tree. And not to apply water and fertilizer directly / near to the trunk.
In order to increase the productivity of tall mango trees they adviced to cut the stems with in the circle of 10 to 15 feet. By doing this trees started to give fruits in 2 to 3 years. After cutting the stems the fungicide and bordeaux paste should be applied.
In the end participant urged farmers and government to arrange mango festivals and trade shows to market the fruit and stress on the importance of public and private partnership in this regard
