Russia bans Pakistani agri products
Russia has imposed a ban on the import of all agriculture products from Pakistan with immediate effect for an indefinite period, an exporter of fruits and vegetables said on Tuesday.
“According to a Russian notification, Pakistan has violated quarantine rules that may give birth to some agricultural diseases in Russia,”
Waheed Ahmed, a former chairman of the All Pakistan Fruits and Vegetables Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association, said.
He said that Pakistan has exported potato and oranges worth $150 million to $170 million last year and the ban may result in a loss of such important market next year.
He urged the ministry of commerce and the ministry of national foods security and research to take notice of the ban and make efforts to restore exports of Pakistani agriculture products to Russia.
